I’ve been making Christmas ornaments for years. It started largely with paper and later salt dough. Then I discovered ceramics and the abundance of molds available for Christmas time. Once the kids came along, it was a case of making ornaments with them in whatever material was suitable for the age at the time. So paper evolved into paper mache, paper clay, ceramics, pipe cleaners, beads, wire, fabric, polystyrene balls, foil, polymer clay – in fact almost anything went!In time the play became a source of income and thus “The Christmas Cottage” was born. There is a wide range of ornaments available on order and I try to come up with new ideas all the time. Colours are your
personal preference. I’ve done many thematic Christmas trees, going from red and gold one year, baubles the next year, pink, white and silver last year and blue and white the year before.

News update: 13 August 2009:
Although I no longer make Christmas Ornaments to sell, I think handmade ornaments will always remain a passion with me. Somewhere in the world of polymer clay some items may pop up for sale, but it is no longer a focus in my business life. I’ve had to let a number of things go this year in an effort to unload pressure (all self inflicted!) and make time to simply just enjoy on a much smaller scale many of the crafts I love to do.
The Christmas Cottage is officially closed. I learned a lot from it and so (I hope) did my children while they were growing up.
